You’ll likely spot hornbills on safari. Yet, you won’t see bird from lion king at Kariega. These birds aren’t native to our area. There are 25 species of hornbills that live in Africa and most of their numbers are declining or, at best, steady. You can see two hornbill species at Kariega: the trumpeter (above) and the delegated hornbill (below). Hornbills (Bucerotidae) are birds found in sub-Saharan Africa, tropical Asia, and Melanesia.
